Bathroom Incident

In class I read page five of the Brown Dog. I had to read some of the lines twice to understand what it was saying. It wasn’t becausumbled and was kind of jumpy. But it was very descriptive and was able to give ye the words were hard to understand, just the way it was wrote. I thought it seemed very jou a vivid of what was happening.

I thought the story was really depressing from the part I read. I love animals and reading stories about animals being abused puts me in that depressed feeling.

If you have never experienced around an “angry” drunk you can’t really understand what the child and wife was feeling. I know the child and wife was probably horrified and was too scared  to step in and help the dog. They knew if they tried to help the dog he would more than likely take out his anger on them .

I honestly feel really bad for the dog. Dog’s can’t tell if somebody is drunk. Animals only see that you’re acting different. As a house pet the dog was probably thinking they are here to care of me and to love me. So, when the man started throwing stuff at the dog he didn’t realize the dad was being mean till after being kicked at. It took time for the dog to fully register the fact the man was out to hurt him not play!

Just by reading the one page I was able to figure out what the whole story was about. I wouldn’t need to read the rest because I already knew how it ended.

I thought it seemed like an ok story just very depressing. I wouldn’t recommend it to just anyone. I would tell older people to read the story. I think it’s more high school level and up.

Emancipation

My random blog is going to be about emancipation. I’m very interested in this topic. I think it’s very good we have this possibility in America.

I think age sixteen is a good age to be able to try to be emancipated. I personally believe that if you’re old enough to be counted and tried as an adult you should be able to move out on your own. A lot of teens no days are ready to move out at sixteen but a lot isn’t.

To be emancipated it is required to have a copy of your birth certificate, name and last address of your parent or guardian, address and how long you lived in that residence, reason for why you want to be emancipated, your plan for meeting the needs and living expenses which also might include where you work, your wages, and verification by your employer.
Yes, their is more technical things to this process but these are the main things you will need.

I personally believe if you can prove you have shelter, food, clothes, able to stay in school or have a job you should be able to be emancipated.

What I don’t understand is the fact we are considered as adults and treated as a adults but we can’t move out freely at age sixteen.

I know lots of teens at age 16 that are taking care of themselves. Yes, the parents do some small things but mostly the responsibility of taking care of yourself is left up to you. Now if you can purchase most of the things you need you should be aloud to move out!

Hole in my life

I’ve been reading the book Hole in my Life. This book is an autobiography about the author Jack going to jail. In the book he begins talking about his life as a teenager. He describes how he went to different high schools.

His junior year his family moved to Puerto Rico. He had to quit school because his family couldn’t afford a english speaking school. Jack began working at a hotel wiring electricity. He had to learn very quickly how to wire the rooms. He was given one of the hotel rooms to live in. During the evenings he would leave the hotel to go down the street to his parents apartment for dinner and to have his clothes washed. While staying alone in the hotel he gained many freedoms. Lots of the other workers befriended jack and soon began teaching him how to gamble and even let him drink some.
After awhile Jacks family decided it would be best to send him back to the states to live with a family so he could finish high school. He began high school as a senior. Jack was living with the Bacon family. The family welcomed him into their home because he would bring in some extra cash. Jack began coming home very late, he would be extremely intoxicated. After a night of vomiting all over the house the Bacon family kicked him out. As a last resort Jack found an old motel to live in where he befriended the owner.
Jack enjoyed reading and writing and it helped him get through bad times. Through the book he uses stories from his books to relate to whatever he is doing.

Towards the middle of the story jack moves to an island near the Virgin islands to live with his family. Jack was very excited to move to the island to make extra cash to save up to go to college. When he moved to the islands he was surprised to find out that he wouldn’t be making any cash and there was racial tension everywhere.

Jack began working with his father making crates, they were paid in room and board. While working he meets a man named Rik. Rik has lots of hash “weed” that he needs to send to New York. Rik has jack build him a crate with a secret compartment to hide the hash.

Rik asks Jack to take a journey with him and another man and this is where I’ve stopped reading so far.

Public Speaking

So far i’ve really enjoyed my public speaking class. So far the work has been easy and fun. I hope when Mr.Paul comes the class won’t change much.

The best part of the class is being able to sit where you want. I really like that I can sit and chat with my friends. By being able to talk with my friends while working it makes the class go by faster for me.

I think Mrs.Elliott is so funny! She is always saying little random things that makes us laugh. I’m glad she isn’t one of those uptight teachers. She is very laid back and easygoing. The best thing about her is that she doesn’t sit and yell at us over every little thing.

I’m very excited to present our project today for her class! The project is to take five items that describe you and put them in a bag. We also had to write a short speech to go along with the bag. I chose pictures of fire training because I wanna be a firefighter, sinkers because I love to fish, shotgun shell cause I love to hunt, my camouflage key cause my favorite color is camo, and my cell because my world revolves around my phone.

I think I did pretty decent on the project thanks to Donny. Donny asked a question that allowed me to explain my project a little more in depth. He asked how do you hand fish. I went into detail about sticking your hand into a whole in a lake while wiggling around your fingers and waiting for a fish. Once the fish latches on you shove your hand down its throat and grab its gills to pull it out. I also explain how it hurts your hands when the catfish bites you, it can even make you bleed. Some people also wears gloves to protect their hands.

Earth Story

The story honestly wasn’t that bad, in the most part it was comical. The author takes something a little more serious and makes it more enjoyable and entertaining. When you read the article you should be able to grasp the concept very quickly. It’s very easy to understand the author is just trying to have a little fun while bringing up a more serious matter.

Do you always wanna read something that is sad or monotone? No probably not, most people like a little more entertainment in their lives. I personally would rather have more happier toned stories than sad ones, or at least have a balance between them.

In the story I really think it’s trying to say that we don’t take good enough care of the earth. Look at some of the “disasters”  such as Global warming. We bring some of these disasters upon ourselves.

Littering is probably one of our biggest problems with not taking care of the earth. You can honestly not name one place where there's not one piece of liter.

I really like that the author brings up leaving earth to live on another planet. Scientists have been studying and trying to find other planets that could support life. I once read an article about in a couple years they plan on doing “trips” to space. People would pay thousands of dollars for a trip to space. Whether this is true or not I don’t know but I honestly think they could make it happen with the technology we have today.

I really enjoyed the story I personally thought it was cute and kind of funny. It is very enjoyable and I would recommend it to anybody with a sense of humor.

Random Blog

My name is Brandy Love but I go by Bre. I live in Bessemer City I’m originally from Cherryville. I’m currently training to become a junior firefighter. In the future I would like to become a volunteer firefighter at a volunteer department. My favorite things to do are hunt, fish, and hangout with my friend

I live with my mother, step father, and older sister. I have six brothers and sisters. We have two pets a Dotson named Frankie who is my pet and we also have a cat named Tiger.

I’m very excited to be in this program because I think it will open many doors for me in the future. So far school has actually been kind of fun and interesting! I really enjoy the fact that we are allowed to use our phones while at school. To be honest I think this is going to be a great year! I’ve even been getting along with all my teachers which are great.

The best thing about this program is we’re we are such a tight nit community! I’ve gotten very close to many of my classmates. It’s like having another family but at school.

I really like walking around the campus, it’s so much fun! Being in Ms. Terry’s and Mrs. Hibbert’s class makes me feel like I’m actually in a college class. I

I’m very excited to move into our new building. I think it’s going to be awesome! I really hope the food will be better though. The biggest thing I dislike about being in this program is that I get home at five! To be honest I really miss being able to come home and take a nap. Now I don’t have time to take naps after school I have to immediately get to work to make sure all my d Friday privileges. I personally think that having the privileges gives us something to look forward too.

By the time I finish all my chores, homework, eating dinner, and bath time I’m so tired  I don’t want to go anywhere or do anything! During the summer I could go to bed at three and not have to get up till one or two that day. I sure do miss sleeping in more than anything and it’s only been two days!

I can’t believe how fast school has been going by though; within in no time it’s time to go home! Last school year went by so fast I can hardly remember it. I can’t believe how close I’m getting to becoming a senior, just one more school year after this! I think being in this program makes me feel like time is going by quicker.
